What’s L.O.V.E. got to do with it?
I sat at my desk…
piles of papers waited to be filed,
half-finished projects taunted me,
my email inbox exploded onto a
second page with not only junk
emails, but an overwhelming number
of messages from clients, family
members, friends, colleagues, and
educational venues—
all vying for my undivided attention.
So I did what most normal,
rational people would do.
I ate some chocolate.
And then I ate some more 🙂

YUM!
That did the trick!
Now I could really focus on
what was dragging me down,
pushing me into feelings of
complete overwhelm and mental
exhaustion.
I LOVE my business!
I LOVE helping my clients with
their writing projects.
I LOVE connecting with people—
that secret thrill of meeting
someone new in my social
and business network.
Do you feel the same…but are
still struggling?
So what’s the problem?
Simple.
BALANCE.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah…I’ve
heard it all before!”
I know.
Me, too.
I’ve been hearing “Set boundaries,”
“Make priorities,” “Create a
‘work-life balance’” for what seems
like FOREVER!
Maybe you’ve been hearing
the same thing.
Do you ever wonder,
“But HOW? How do I DO that?”
I was struggling with that very
question when I came up with
The L.O.V.E. Approach–
A simple way to bring balance
and focus to your life—
and your business!
Let’s give it a try!
The L.O.V.E. Approach:
L: Let yourself TAKE A BREAK
“A break? No way!
I have too much to do!!” you
may be thinking.
You’re wrong.
Without a break to mentally
rest, recharge, refocus, and
revitalize yourself,
you can’t even begin to put
energy into your business!
You are empty.
And pushing harder
will NOT make you feel
accomplished or dedicated.
It will just make you feel…TIRED.
So take a break!
Research¹ shows that in just
5 minutes, you can“regain your brain”
and be fresh and alert again.
Keep it simple:
- 10 minute walk
- 5 minute stretching routine
- 10 minute reading break
- 15 minute chat with friends
- 5 minute meditation
- 10 minute journalling
The options are literally endless!
So go ahead, LET YOURSELF GO…
Then watch yourself come back stronger
and with more energy and focus!
O: Outcome
Do you have clear goals for your
business?
Did you write them down and
post them—so you can easily see them
every day?
Do you have a plan for how to reach
those goals?
No?
You’re not alone!
But with all those goals and ideas
jumbling around in your brain,
it’s easy to feel confused, overwhelmed, and
practically paralyzed with the fear of failure…
or success.
Don’t let that happen!
Try this instead:
Set small, manageable, weekly and
monthly goals for your business.
Then set aside 10, 15 or 20 minutes
each day to FOCUS on those goals.
Check it out:
- Have a goal to expand your
business network?
Commit 10 minutes a day to searching
and connecting with business
colleagues on LinkedIn.
- Want to rewrite your website, but
find it completely overwhelming?
Work on it 20 minutes a day.
You WILL get it done—WITHOUT
losing your mind. WIN-WIN 🙂
Goodbye hours of indecision
and uncertainty of where to start
or what to do!
HELLO mini “power blocks”
of focused time!
10 minutes.
Just 10 minutes a day can help you
reach the outcomes you desire—
in your business and your life!
So, grab your calendar and start blocking
out that time…right now…TODAY!
V: Value
Take a look at your business.
A hard look.
Now, look at your business,
through the eyes of your CLIENTS!
What is important to them?
What do they appreciate?
DO MORE OF THAT!
Focus on what your clients
LOVE and NEED right now—
to improve their lives!
And then give them that!
Simple things.
Things like…
- Did you receive positive
feedback and new referrals
from your special last month?
Build on that!
Why not try a weekly bonus
or “Special of the Month?”
- Is difficulty scheduling driving
your clients crazy?
Fix it!
Consider a simple, user-
friendly online calendar—
with personalized reminder
messages.
BAM!
Just like that, you easily brought
incredible value to your clients—
solving their problem AND showing
them they are important to you!
Not too hard, is it?
The key is to let your clients lead:
What do they love?
What drives them crazy?
What keeps them coming
back to you?
DO THAT.
That is what matters.
THAT is value.
E: Engagement
People matter.
Above all else, your business is
firmly rooted in people:
clients,
co-workers, and
colleagues.
This isn’t new.
But our new virtual world is.
The most important people
to you and your business
may be in a nearby neighborhood…
or they may be clear across
the globe!
So, how can you stay
connected?
Engagement.
Remember, engagement is NOT
promoting your business—
it is connecting with PEOPLE!
And not just a holiday or
birthday card once a year!
Truly effective engagement is
consistent, frequent, and
across multiple channels.
Here are some strategies to reconnect:
- Send an E-Newsletter
E-Newsletters allow you connect to everyone
in your social and business network—
every single month!
- Email a Weekly E-letter
A short, friendly
“Hi, how are you? Did you know…”
email, sharing a helpful
article or business tip, will
keep you connected.
- Create Blog Posts
Not a blogger?
Might be time to start!
Blogs help you connect and
give your readers something
to look forward to each month!
- Be Active on LinkedIn
More than just hitting “accept”
for a connection request!
Post articles.
Like, share and comment.
Engage in a meaningful way!
- Use Social Media
Are you active on your
business Facebook, Instagram or
Twitter?
Social media lets you easily connect
with everyone following
you and your business!
Use it!

So, what’s L.O.V.E. got to do with it?
Only…EVERTHING!
L.O.V.E. really is the key to bringing
balance and clarity to your life—
and business.
So why not give it a try?
Go ahead, share the L.O.V.E. today—
it just might end up being the
sweetest February ever—
and WAY healthier than
all that chocolate! 🙂
Happy February!
