Got 30 Minutes?

Got 30 Minutes?

Did you make New Year’s Resolutions?
Did you create business goals and
plans to make THIS year
SO MUCH BETTER
than last year?

Me too!

So….
How are those goals coming along?
Are you steadily moving forward
towards those New Year’s dreams?

Me neither 🙁

I felt overwhelmed, stressed out, and
like I had completely failed
BEFORE I EVEN STARTED!
Ugh.
This wasn’t the way I wanted to
start 2021!
Sound familiar?

Don’t worry!
There’s a better way!

I like to call it The
30 Minute Challenge!
But don’t stress out!
It’s easy.

Just pick one of your goals
and COMMIT to working on
it for 30 minutes every day.
Sounds pretty simple, right?
Well, it is…
IF you follow these guidelines for success:

  • Schedule It
    Try to set aside the
    same 30 minute time
    block each day.

    Not only does this guarantee
    you will have that time
    available, but it helps
    your mental mindshift
    that those 30 minutes are
    “work time” each day.

    That way, you’ll be less
    likely to scroll Facebook,
    check email or do
    EVERYTHING BUT your
    targeted goal task.

  • Write It
    Whatever goal you choose,
make sure to write it down and
post it where you will be sure
to see it several times a day.

This will help to keep it front
and center in your mind AND
    will allow your subconscious
to plan and dwell on it
    throughout the day.

  • Measure It
    When you write your goal,
make sure there is some type
    of measurable action or outcome
    attached to it.

Without a way to measure your goal,
how will you know when you
    have succeeded?

This doesn’t have to be super
    complicated or detailed.
It could be something simple like
“I will connect with 3 new clients
    this month”

    At month’s end, you simply
check your record book and you either
did or did not have 3 new clients.
    Very clear and concrete.

  • Time It
    To be the most successful,
give yourself a hard and fast
    deadline to achieve your goal.

It may be tempting to say,
    “But I’ve got ALL YEAR
    and it’s only January!”

Time has a way of slipping
    by quickly and before you
    know it, without a deadline
    for progress, it’ll be summer
    and you’ll still be saying,
    “But I’ve got 6 MONTHS
    to meet my goal!”

    Don’t let that happen.
    However, and this is important,
    set a hard deadline,
    BUT still be flexible.

    What?
    Can I do both?
    Yes. Absolutely.

    Consciously work hard
    towards whatever goal
    deadline you chose,
    but know when you need
to give yourself a tad bit
    more time.
    And then do it–guilt free.

    Child got sick?
Take the time to care for your
    child (I HOPE this
    is a no-brainer!)

Got invited to present at a
    prestigious seminar in your
    niche field?
    Go for it!

Your goal will still be there,
alive and well, after your child
    feels better and your
    presentation is complete.
Your goal will just be sitting
a little farther into the future.
    And that’s ok.

  • Be Smart About It
You will find your 30 minutes
of “goal work” time to be much
more enjoyable if you set a
    realistic goal.

    Reflect and be honest with
    yourself about what would be
    a beneficial, achievable goal
    for your business.

It’s good to “dream big,” but not
so big that it is an impossible goal
    to meet within your available
    knowledge, resources and experience.

An appropriate goal that drives your
    business forward, challenges and
    excites you, and is achievable
will be something you look forward
    to working on–every single day!

  • Name it
    Whatever goal you choose,
make sure it is specific and
    relevant to your business’s success.

Having a vague or general goal
won’t help you see the progress
    you are seeking.

    Don’t overthink it.
Rather, make it simple and clear–
    and specifically name the action
    or outcome you are seeking.

    For example, if you’re wanting
    to increase your marketing efforts,
    don’t say “increase marketing efforts.”
That’s too vague and difficult to measure.

    Instead, specifically name WHAT
    marketing effort you will tackle.
    For example: “Increase marketing
    efforts by creating a monthly
    newsletter and building targeted
list to 500 recipients in 6 months.”

    See the difference?
This is a very specific action,
    focused on your business’s growth,
    relevant to your business goal,
    and easy to measure…a perfect
    goal to achieve success!

So there you have it…
6 guidelines for success
when writing your
business goals for
the new year!
